I've been a member of the site for two years now. I've never been a great artist so I've only submitted a few walls and scans, but I've posted on the forums.

From my perspective, I really don't think the site's been as good since the credit system was introduced. Not just because of it, but the other changes that happened at that time, making submissions stricter. I don't know if it's just because I'm less interested in anime wallpapers that when I was 16, but I also find fewer wallpapers that I want to download.

I think the site did use to be considerably more cheerful, and fun to be on. It used to be that I had loads of people on my friend list, lots of them submitting actively. Now only one of them still uses the site, and I generally don't bother to do more than grab a wallpaper off of the front page before moving on.

So hard to choose but...

I vote for OriginalQueenofAnime :)

I listen to far too much music to be able to afford it all, so I download it and then what I can afford, when I can afford.

I've probably downloaded about 40 OSTs, and own about 10 (which I also originally dowmloaded).

When I heard about the PS3's price tag I began to have second thoughts about buying one. But I'm come to realise that I'm prepared to buy a console for $1000 just to play Final Fantasy XIII.

I can't wait.

Btw, I think X-2 sucked it terms of character depth and storyline. But I wouldn't say that the series as a whole has been heading in that direction. FFX was amazing!

I'm a Christian and already believe in heaven and hell.

A lot of people seem to be saying that even if they existed they wouldn't change their lives to fit in with some powerful being's abitrary whim. However (in Christianity anyway, I can't speak for other religions), we see that God is our creator. He made us in order to be happy, joyous and live life to the full. God's not asking you to live a life of boredom and endless work, serving some church.

Instead, he knows fully what makes you work - can understand you in a way that no one else ever will - and knows that some things, even if they initially seem fun, will ultimately harm you and lead to despair. He doesn't want you just to dance like a puppet to what he feels like, but he can see more clearly what will lead to a happy life - quite apart from heaven/hell - and wants the best for you.

My two Yen.

When I try and change my e-mail address from Personal Options I get the following message:

Not Found

The requested URL /_my/changeemail was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Please could this be fixed.

f

Okay, I've found the change e-mail button in the sidebar to the left. Thanks for that.

However, when I click on it I get an error 404. Sorry to be such a pain but I'm still not managing to change my e-mail.

f

Nickname? Download quota? I don't *think* I can see those either.

Here's a screenshot of my personal options page. Where should I be looking?

f

Where?

In "Contact Options >> Email and Instant Messenger Handles", all I can see is AOL, Yahoo, ICQ and MSN handles. No option for changine e-mail. Sorry if I being blind but I can't see any option there.

f

I'm now using a new e-mail address. Is there any way of changing the e-mail displayed on my user page or do I have to create a new Minitokyo profile?

If so, btw, that sucks. >.<

DRM is the software used to prevent people from copying music and other forms of media. While it may occasionally prevent crimes, it causes far more inconvenience for those who are trying to make legal use of songs they have bought, makes customers feel like criminals and can even install software on your computer - without you agreeing! - that creates vulnerabilities that can be exploited by hackers.

Freeculture.org have started an internet pledge for people to submit their names and swear never to buy CDs with DRM on them.

For more information on DRM, Freeculture's Wiki
To 'sign' the pledge, go here.

God could have humans created as mindless automatons that by their nature could only do that which was right in God's sight. We would have been happy, because what the Lord command is good - but then we would have no choice. Instead God gave us the choice and free will to choose to disobey Him. But He provided a way for us to come to know Him (Jesus), so that through all our mistakes we could come to obey Him, not becaues we have no choice, but because we love Him and want to - even if we get it wrong often.

At least, that's what I believe :)

f

If you create a link to a page that begins with 'https://' instead of 'http://' the url tag doesn't work.

For example:
Extension for firefox
Extension for firefox

Both are the same code, except the first one uses https instead of http.
I know this isn't a major bug but if one of the moderators could sort it out some time that'd would be good :)
Keep up the good work guys!

f

If I'm watching several episodes of the same anime in a row then I'll tend to skip the opening/ending credits.

But yeah, it depends on how good the song is.

f

Evanescence's music is really cool but Amy's songs tend to use the same musical ideas over and over, so it can bit a bit boring if you try and listen ti whole album in one go.

Great for making music videos out of Final Fantasy cutscenes though :)

I have no problem with how well the system works - merely with the credit system itself.
I'm not going to claim to be an 'active' member of the community - I can't wall, I have no scans to submit and I've never really liked the groups (yes, I know that's an incomplete list, and, yes, I know now that someone will reply 'but you could do *blah*'. Just accept that I don't find it easy to do most if any of the things on this site, nor do I have very much free time to do them).

Instead I used to spend my time supporting my favourite wallers (and anyone else who was doing something that looked really good) by downloading their walls, using them, and occasionally trying to leave encouraging and/or constructive comments, although again I was limited by my knowledge of making walls.

Now even if I comment on every wall (which in my opinion is just unneccessary spam, anyway - unless I really have something I want to say, why should I go around spouting stuff like "v.good! keep it up!" - unless I believe it to be true) I still can't gain enough credits to actually download anywhere near the number of really good walls that are made every day.

So I guess I'm just going to have to drift away from Minitokyo - I can't afford the time and input required to maintain a user account here, despite the fact that I love the work done by the talented artists here.

f

I'm going to be getting BeThere 24Mb when they extend their service as far as my part of London in January.

Looks awesome :)

How does this compare with, say, the USA?

f

yep. Minitokyo has once again switched to displaying the text "thumbnail" instead of loading thumbnails and doesn't display full size pictures at all.

Using Firefox 1.0.7

Quote by SonicWindIs there any chance I can get this in the UK?

I doubt it's going to come out in the UK. But I've ordered it from store4.com, a supplier I've got stuff from in the past. They import DVDs from America to the UK, and (by some clever method I don't understand) don't seem to pay any import taxes so the prices are low.

You have to make sure you can play Region 1 DVDs though.

Pazu from Castle in the Sky.

Not because I hate him - just that he survives approximately 3 gazillion scrapes with certain death and still ends up with nothing more than a flesh wound.

No one that lucky is natural!

f

On Friday I kept getting error 403 (Forbidden) when I tried to go to minitokyo.net :(

f

I've only seen Nausicaa and Spirited Away, but Nausicaa is definitely one of my all time favourite anime films. :)

f

Don't worry Akakiken - everyone goes through these kind of things sometimes, you'll recover.

That being said (and I don't want to come over all preachy) but I have a friend who's 60 years old. He says he's never met anyone who was a comitted Christian and has also regretted their life. That's the way I feel - life's worth living if God's there for me.

f

I really loved that wall, Samo! I don't think it was too similar to the original scan - you did a great job with the sky. I hope the mods will let you put it back up again.
